Week 5 Summary

DS106: Digital Storytelling has now come to an end. While this class hasn’t always been easy, it was loads of fun and I learned a lot, which I talked about in my final reflection

For our final project, we were to produce a story around a character that used all media forms we’ve worked with this semester: visual, design, audio, and video. I was somewhat dreading this assignment because I’m not very good at creative writing, but I honestly think it turned out pretty well!

Along with the story and the media used in it, we had to create tutorials for all the media we used in out story.

There it is, my final project. This course has been a lot of fun. I learned a lot of things, including how to use different digital tools that I had never used before. I can’t believe that, as a musician, I had never used Audacity before! Now, I love it and will definitely be using it again. This course also taught me that I’m creative in more ways than just writing music.

If I had the chance to take this class again, I would definitely space out my work on the assignments to relieve some of the stress I’ve experienced over the last 5 weeks.

The most exciting project was definitely the final project. the final project assignment seemed terrifying at first, because I’m awful at creative writing, so I had no clue what I was going to do for it. The idea eventually came to me, and I’m actually really happy with how it all turned out.

I definitely had a rough start to this course, but I’m really glad I took this course; it’s been extremely rewarding.

Week 4 Summary

I thought this week’s assignments would be really difficult and grueling, but I actually really enjoyed making videos.

Week 2 Summary

I feel like I did better than I did last week. I didn’t wait until the last minute to start the assignments, though I did wait to actually publish the pages. I clearly still have a lot of room for improvement though.

The thing that gave me the most trouble was Photoshop and just the way it works in general. It’s a little hard to choose what I enjoyed the most, but I would probably say I most enjoyed anything I had to used the Noun Project for. I love the look of the icons.

Like the last week, I would do start things earlier. I’m continuing to learn that some assignments take much longer than I think they will.

Weekly Summary-Week 1

I had a lot of fun with this week’s assignments. I loved getting to do something I really enjoy like photography for a grade! It also got me to take pictures after not having much time to do so, which is always a bummer when I don’t have much time to do things that I enjoy.

I feel as though I did pretty well on completing the requirements for this week’s assignments. Though I did have a bit of trouble figuring out how to make some posts that were supposed to be embedded to show up as embedded and not just as links, and I’m still trying to figure out why some posts were embedded and why some were not.

I also had trouble finding things within my house to photograph since we’re still in quarantine. Not only are we still in quarantine, but I’m also immunodeficient, which makes me a high-risk patient. Though it’s irrational and I know this, I don’t even like going outside into my own backyard because I’m so scared I’ll get sick.

I definitely learned that these assignments take much longer to complete than I think they will, which definitely tells me that I need to make sure that my ADHD medication is at full force, so to speak, so that I can focus and complete the work within a reasonable amount of time.
